ORDINARY PEOPLE CAN DO EXTRAORDINARY THINGS.

It seems that the people that inspire us most are often ordinary people who do extraordinary things. Hartley is eight years old and has been fighting intestinal failure since the day he was born. Kids like Hart live most of their lives in and out of hospital, have numerous surgeries and procedures, and require daily medical intervention and care to sustain their lives.

Even though Hartley endures so much on a daily basis, he has a very optimistic outlook on life. He is a SickKids ambassador and he works hard to support and spread awareness about the team that takes care of him. When Hart told us that his greatest power is to be kind and sweet, he was sitting on the couch at home recovering from his 10th surgery in four years. That humble moment with a then four year old Hartley, is really what served as inspiration for this event.

The sad truth is Hart is not alone in this struggle. There is a growing number of kids like him from all across the country who fight serious gastrointestinal diseases. The struggles of these children and their families are being supported in an amazing way by the GIFT Program at SickKids Hospital. Over the years we have worked with this incredible team, learning about kids like little Ava (pictured here) and others, has inspired us. We want to do whatever we can to support them.
